Elite Summer Coding Program - 2021

Written by Kristen Capuzzo | Jun 3, 2021 12:52:47 PM

Based on the success of last year’s summer coding program, we have decided to run it again this summer. 2020 was a year of triumphs and shifts in everyones lives and this program was one that proved successful for many looking to advance their programming skills and get into software jobs. The remote and hands-on nature of our program allows you to code from anywhere. Your learning is entirely 100% accessible to you. Maybe you didn’t get an internship you really wanted or maybe you want to get better at coding, programming, software architecture, or your code quality. Whatever the reason is, let Qwasar be the solution to helping you achieve your goals in tech this summer.

Who Is the Elite Summer Coding Program For?

This program is geared towards Computer Science students and graduates looking to further their skills and enhance their technical portfolio.  It is an elite and intense program that is more accelerated than our traditional programs

What Does It Cost?

The program costs $250 for the 3-month program.

Why This Program?

Whether you are interested in a quick path to get a job or building your technical skills in a short period of time, this program will suit your needs. We use project-based learning, which means that you will have multiple software projects and exercises assigned to you which you will need to code and solve. You will write a LOT of code in a short space of time. Our approach requires you to take responsibility of their learning and analyze their own methods.

We are an entirely remote program that can be done from anywhere you are this summer. We have small cohorts that enable you to network with other engineers for your career. Use this opportunity to better yourself and gain skills and knowledge to fast-track your career and advance your technical knowledge.

Many CS degree programs focus heavily on theory, but do not provide an applied learning experience and the opportunity to gain significant skills in software design, software architecture, and confidence in your code. Further, hiring companies and recruiters demand a technical portfolio that illustrates the breadth and depth of your knowledge and capabilities, also something that most CS degrees don't offer. This program targets these specific areas: software development experience, technical portfolio development, and also technical interview preparation and practice.

What Should I Expect?

There is a 2-day intensive "pre-season" to introduce learners to the program and refresh basic programming skills. The Pre-season will include basic software engineering principles, variables, functions, loop statements, if statements, basic algorithms and data structures, Javascript, IDE, Git and the terminal. Learners with zero previous coding experience normally complete the preseason in 2-3 weeks but for this program, the challenge is to complete it in 2 days.

After this short introduction, learners will begin C programming before moving on to either our full-time Software Engineering or Full Stack Development tracks. There will be projects in each "seasons" or tracks dedicated to topics that are crucial for 21st century careers. It will be a fast-paced and intensive remote program that will challenge you, while advancing your technical skills and growing your portfolio. You will complete technical interviews and learn amongst others in your cohort. You will attend live coding sessions with your peers, coding collaboration sessions and Tech Startup of the Week events. These will further your skills and abilities as well as get to know your fellow learners while working in small groups at times. You will come out of this program equipped with a portfolio, SDLC experience, and significant preparation for technical interviews.

This program is tough! You will get out what you put in. There aren't lectures to attend and learning isn't passive: you're responsible for your learning and for driving your technical portfolio. Hard work pays off and skipping class does not!

Here are some examples of our live coding sessions and sharing our finished projects with other learners in the Qwasar learning community:

How Long Is The Elite Summer Coding Program?

This program will run for approximately 3 months from June 17 to September 17th. Some students may finish earlier and others may stay on after September 17th.
