As layoffs continue and hiring freezes ensue, many recruiters are considering becoming the very talent for which they recruit: software developers, data scientists, or DevOps engineers. While the transferable skills of communication and collaboration are strong for recruiters, the technical skills are often the skills that they’re missing. But, recruiters know this, and they have the benefit of knowing what the desired skills are in great engineer candidates. They also see the other side of the coin and who doesn't receive offers - and thus which skills candidates might be lacking. Training to the desired skill sets of hiring managers and for technical positions in industry is so crucial to fill an opportunity, close any skills gap, and get hired right away.

Qwasar is delighted to announce the launch of our first Women's Cohort, starting mid-September, 2022.

Finding quality female software talent is a well-known challenge in industry: companies often specifically request and ask us for female candidates for their positions. There’s an interest for more female candidates, but there also needs to be opportunities for women to learn and grow their skill set to be ready for software jobs.

Emeritus notes, “As a matter of fact, employment for software developers is projected to grow 22% from 2019 to 2029 (according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). However, the biggest challenge the tech industry faces today is talent acquisition across genders.”

In an effort to increase the number of women and representation of women in the tech workforce, we’re launching a Women’s Cohort in September this year. Led by our co-founder and supported by our entire community, the cohort aims to be a fun, encouraging, and challenging environment for women to develop their skills in software development.

The tech industry is one of the fastest growing industries with an immeasurable amount of opportunities to get involved. For the numbers-oriented accountants, tech can be an exciting and simple transition offering different ways of applying skills you already have. With the growth of fintech as an industry and the transformation of traditional banks as well, there are ample opportunities to put newly developed tech skills to use, particularly in building finance and accounting-related software products.

Qwasar Silicon Valley, a leader in training advanced technical talent in software-related roles, is partnering with JFN Institute of Technology in Cameroon to drive groundbreaking programs to grow digital talent in Africa. The partnership sees the launch of programs focused on skills-based programs training talent to Silicon Valley standards in software engineering, full stack development, and data science, with opportunities to expand into Cloud/DevOps and AI/machine learning.

Finding diverse, skilled technical talent is difficult. Having a consistent pipeline of good skilled talent year round is difficult, especially for more junior positions. Industry is shifting to new training models that turn traditional models upside down and that work better for companies, recruiters, and learners. Pre-apprenticeships are a great way for companies and training providers to work together to provide real opportunities to learners and develop a strong, skilled, talent pipeline.
